Mrs. Chow, with a Bachelor of Arts in Bilingual Education and California Teaching Credential from the University of San Francisco, was the vice-principal of Hip Wo Chinese School for 40 years, teacher’s assistant with the San Francisco Unified School District for 35 years, Citizenship Instructor at the Asian Women’s Resource Center for 20 years, past president and member of the Gum Moon Women’s Residence Hall Board of Directors for many years, and 1992 Woman Warrior Awardee in Education and Community Service by the Pacific Asian American Women Bay Area Coalition (PAAWBAC).
